And so the Adventure begins

Traveling to the north was an interesting adventure, and so here is the tale of my travels!! I will start with Seattle because everything else before that is pretty uneventful. In the airport in Seattle I needed to use the Ladies restroom and when I was done and washing my hands, I ran into a transvestite, brushing her hair/wig.  Now, this does not come with judgments, I understand why she was in the ladies room, but I just was not expecting it and so there was a double take.  Living in a very sheltered community you do not see many men, dressed as women, in the ladies restroom, so you can see why there was some confusion on my part!! So I went about my business and left to continue on my way, and so it seems that my transvestite friend was also heading on to Alaska.  I lost her after that point but I often wonder what she was on her way to Alaska for... business or pleasure?  Well I guess we will never know!!
Once settled in Seattle they announced that the plane was having maintenance delays and it would be about 15 minute behind schedule, which ended up being an hour delay.  My next destination was Anchorage and I only had an hour layover in Anchorage, so I knew that I would be cutting things close.  When I got to Anchorage I learned that I did not make the connecting flight to Barrow but that I could get on the next flight, which was leaving in two hours, this was good news!! There was only one problem the person that was going to be picking me up had my original flight time not my new flight time.  This is not a big deal if you have her number, which would have been a good idea to get before leaving the lower 48, and I did not do that!! So I boarded the plane and hoped for the best.  My next stop was Fairbanks which I did not actually have to get off the plane for.  While waiting in Fairbanks, two cops boarded the plane in full gear and had to escort an older lady from the plan.  I later found out, they did so because she was trying to traffic drugs up to Barrow!! OMG, where in the HELL am I moving!!!!!!!
Now I'm on the final leg of my trip. I have been up since 5:30am and I'm a little buzzed not from alcohol but all the excitement and crazy people I have seen.  As we are landing in Barrow I get a view of the town and I'm thinking I may have made a mistake, this does not look like anything that I have seen before and I'm not happy about it.  It looks more like a third world country then a small northern town in the United States.  I was not going to get off that plane, they were going to have to get a marshal or bring in the Marines but it was not going to happen.  I was staying in that seat and that was all there was to it!!! This was all going on in my head, so really I got off the plane like the good little girl that I am, no questions asked.
Once in Barrow I waited to get my bags which didn't take long and began my wait for someone to pick me up, knowing that most likely no one is coming...Yay me!!  I also have NO SERVICE on my cell phone so I couldn't call for help. At this point I am starting to PANIC!! So I did what I had to do... I started to yell at myself, in my head of course, YOU BETTER BUCK UP BUTTERCUP THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG 2 YEARS!! I didn't cry but I wanted to, I guess my talk worked.  I had the lady at the front desk call me a cab, I at least had the address to where I would be staying.  I got me and all my bags in the cab and was on my way.  This is where I met my new friend, who I have not seen since, William.  Very nice young boy who doesn't do drug... I was given this information without asking, thank you William. William then stayed to help me with my bags, but I didn't have the code or any other information to get me into the house. Lucky for me William knew the maintenance guy and called him to get me in, yay!!
Once I was in I met my new roommate, who is a nice lady that works as a Vet in town.  She let me know that all I had to do is turn my phone off and then back on again and I would be in business, it totally work!!

That is all for now but I will keep everyone updated on my life in Alaska!! Let the adventure begin!!
